Litsea cubeba, also known as mountain pepper or mujiangzi, is one of the spice tree species unique to China. It tolerates drought and barren soil, adapts widely and helps conserve soil and water. It bears fruit in its third year after planting and reaches full production after five years, staying productive for 30 to 50 years. Its flowers, leaves and peel are the main raw material for extracting citral, used in pharmaceutical products and in preparing flavours; citral, for example, is a raw material for synthesising ionone and vitamin A. The seeds contain about 40% oil and are used for industrial purposes.

The company has transferred about 867 hectares (13,000+ mu) of land, with planting bases across several townships in Guanyang County: Gedong 333 hectares, Helong 267 hectares (including 200 hectares in Paojiang Village), Xiaolong 67 hectares and Wenshi 200 hectares, about 867 hectares in total. Total planned investment is RMB 150-180 million, equivalent to about RMB 170,000-210,000 per hectare.
